Sprout recipe for kids!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Large thick carrot – peeled
  • 8 sprouts
  • 2 rashers of bacon – I use organic/ nitrate free
  • Maple/honey for dipping
  • Dried unsweetened cranberries for kids to decorate
  • 1 tablespoon of oil of choice – I use avocado or coconut
  • 4 small bamboo skewers (soak in water for half hour before use to prevent burning)

METHOD;
1. Steam sprouts for 3 minutes
2. Preheat oven to 180C
3. Place one large and one small sprout on each skewer – one for the body and one for the head
4. Peel the carrot and slice 4 slices from the thickest end to make hat rims
5. Chop hat tops from the thinnest end of the carrot and place the hats onto the tips of the skewers
6. Cut the bacon length ways in half and wrap it around the snow man’s neck – between the two sprouts
7. Roast these with a drizzle of oil and honey for around 15-20 minutes or until the bacon is crisp

8. Let the children decorate with cranberry buttons
